The most important reason for Christians staying on this planet instead of just going straight to heaven is the need to share Jesus Christ with the world. Through actions, words, and supernatural power, you can demonstrate Christ to your friends and neighbors!

This blog is co-authored by Art Thomas and Pastor Shane Fritz from Canton, Michigan. These men have a passion for the Lord and for the lost, and this blog is their way of training and equipping Christians like YOU to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the whole world!

Local Church Lowers Gas Prices!

A church down the street from me wound up in the Detroit FreePress this morning for lowering gas by $0.30 per gallon at a nearby station. One of the young men from my small group will be down there helping out all day.

This an awesome outreach! Many churches around the United States could do similarly and make a huge impact on our communities. See if your church can band together to do the same.

Plymouth church answers prayers for lower gas prices

If you’ve been praying for lower gasoline prices, your prayers will be answered this afternoon.

Pastor Randy Duncan of the Living Word Church on North Territorial Road said church members donated $3,000 to lower the price of gasoline by 30 cents a gallon. The Living Word Gas Buy Down will begin at noon and continue until it’s sold out.

“We’re trying to help out the community before the holiday weekend,” said Duncan, 42, who resides in Westland. “A lot of people travel, and we want to bless some families by doing this. It’s a tangible way to let the community know we care.”

Anita Berger, SuperCenter spokesperson, said the Marathon gas station expects to pump 10,000 gallons of gas at 30 cents below the current price, which Wednesday afternoon was $4.19 at the SuperCenter.

“We will start at noon and expect it will take 5-7 hours,” said Berger.

Duncan said members of the Living Word Church will be on hand to clean car windows for motorists while they pump gas.

“There won’t be any preaching,” said Duncan. “We’ll hand out information about our church, but there are no strings attached to this. We just want to help the community and show our care for them is not based on where they are spiritually.”

Duncan said the church plans on sponsoring another gas buy down toward the end of the summer.

The Living Word Church, located at 46500 N. Territorial Road, has been conducting Indonesian, Arabic, traditional and contemporary services since the church was founded by Duncan three years ago.

The Plymouth SuperCenter, at 400 Ann Arbor Road, will no doubt be a busy place with traffic backed up onto Ann Arbor Road.

“We’re going to do what we can to keep the lines from getting too long,” said Plymouth Police Chief Wayne Carroll. “We’ll probably put up a ‘No Left Turn’ sign on Ann Arbor Road so traffic doesn’t get too congested.”
